An accidental fire Wednesday evening caused $50,000 damage to a home on Carrico Mill Road in Hughesville. The family living at the home has been displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire was discovered in a bedroom by an occupant and was called in at 10:29 p.m. It took 30 firefighters from Hughesville, Mechanicsville, Benedict, Waldorf and La Plata volunteer fire departments five minutes to bring the blaze under control.
The two-story wood-framed house at 6750 Carrico Mill Road is owned by the Beuchart Family Trust.
