Raymond Jerome Curtis

Brandywine, MD – On Aug. 27 at 9:38 p.m., officers responded to the 3500 block of Curtis Place in Brandywine for the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a man with a gunshot wound to his finger. A preliminary investigation showed the victim was arguing with the suspectโ€“a relativeโ€“during which the suspect hit him with a gun and then shot at him, striking his finger.

The victim was treated for his injury, which was not life-threatening.

The suspect, Raymond Jerome Curtis, 56, of Brandywine, was charged with first-degree assault. According to the Maryland Judiciary Case Search site, Curtis is also facing charges of rifle shot possession with a felony conviction and second-degree assault. The records also indicate he currently resides in Charlotte Hall. A preliminary hearing on the charges is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 27 in District Court.
