On November 21, 2010 at approximately 1:50 a.m., numerous deputies responded to the Leonardtown Firehouse in Leonardtown, for a report of several fights in the parking lot.ย
As Cpl. Handy approached a large crowd in the parking lot he observed Marcus Anthony Mills, 23 of Clements, Md., discharge several rounds from a handgun.ย ย When Mills observed Cpl. Handy approaching he jumped into the driverโs seat of a silver Honda and locked the doors to the vehicle.ย Mills refused to open the door after given several verbal commands to do so by Cpl. Handy and other deputies.ย The door to the vehicle was forced open and Mills was arrested.ย
A black Glock, 10 mm handgun was recovered from the driverโs floor board.ย A 10 mm shell casing was recovered on the ground in the area where Mills discharged the firearm.ย Further investigation revealed the Glock was reported stolen from a residence in July of 2010.ย
Mills is a convicted felon which prohibits him from possessing a regulated firearm.ย In addition, Mills was wanted on a violation of probation warrant.ย Mills was charged with reckless endangerment, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, theft less then $1,000 and violation of probation (warrant).
