The Calvert County Department of Community Planning and Building (CPB), in partnership with Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), is hosting a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Mitigation Grants Workshop at Calvert Pines Senior Center, 450 West Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 6-8 p.m. The workshop targets residents who own structures in Broomes Island and Cove Point, two of the countyโs most flood-prone communities. The meeting is also open to any resident interested in learning about FEMA mitigation grant opportunities.
The workshop is part of CPBโs effort to address flooding in the countyโs most vulnerable flood-prone communities. Residents considering elevating their structures or securing funds for structure demolition and FEMA land acquisition are encouraged to attend. FEMA provides mitigation grant support for both of these activities.
