It took 35 firefighters 15 minutes to knock down a fire in Huntingtown at caused $80,000 in damage and left a family homeless.
A neighbor reported seeing fire from the basement at 5750 Stephen Reed Road at 6:43 p.m.
Volunteer firefighters from Huntingtown, Dunkirk, Prince Frederick, St. Leonard and Benedict responded.
Maryland Deputy Fire Marshal John Nelson reports the fire was accidental in nature, and was started when the power wire to the television malfunctioned.
Damage to the structure was estimated at $80,000, and the loss of contents was set at $30,000.
The family is being assisted by family and friends.
