On Wednesday October 12th at 12:42 pm Station 9(California), Station 3(Lexington Park), and Station 7(Hollywood) were dispatched to 22780 Laurel Glen Road for smoke in an apartment.
Engine 72 and Truck 7 were at St Johns School for fire prevention week and responded immediately with eight volunteers. Engine 92 arrived on the scene at 12:48 pm and advised they had a three story apartment building with nothing evident at this time. Less than a minute later Truck 7 and Engine 72 arrived on the scene.

The Truck crew went to the questioned apartment and found a light haze possibly from the HVAC unit. The crew from Engine 72 checked the floor above and found nothing. The crews checked with the thermal imager and found the cause of the smoke to be from the HVAC unit in the apartment. Command held Engine 92 and Truck 7 and returned the rest of the units. Sergeant Jeff Beach had command and Truck 7 cleared the scene at 1:30 pm.
