Always wanted to fish, but wasnโt sure it was for you? Nowโs your chance to try โ thereโs nothing to lose!
Grab a fishing rod and take advantage of the yearโs first Free Fishing Day this Saturday, June 2.
Normally, a license is required to fish in Maryland, but there are two exceptions to this requirement.
On the first two Saturdays in June (June 2 and 9) and on July 4, a person may catch and possess finfish in the tidal and nontidal waters of the state for recreational purposes without an angler’s license, Chesapeake Bay sportfishing license, or any fishing stamp normally required.
However, all Maryland fishing laws and regulations must be observed.
There are also specific areas in Maryland that are designated License Free Fishing Areas throughout the tidal portions of the Chesapeake Bay. You are required to observe all other fishing laws and regulations. You can click here to see a list of these locations.
