Over 3,000 people showed up on a beautiful summer eveningย Saturday, August 14 at the St Leonard Fire Department looking to re-live the past with the rock band Foreigner, and were not disappointed.
Foreigner has sold over 70 million albums and has racked up scores of smash hit songs such as โCold As Iceโ โUrgentโ โWaiting For A Girl Like Youโ and โHot Bloodedโ.ย Even though there have been many changes in the bandโs members over the years, Founder Mick Jones has put together a group of professionals that rocked the house and had the crowd of three generations dancing in the aisles. Kelly Hansen handled lead vocals with a flair that reminded many of Steven Tyler. Jeff Pilson (formerly of Dokken) laid down the bass lines with Michael Bluestein and Tom Gimbel filling out the rest of the band.
Foreigner welcomed the Calvert High School Chamber Choir and Musical Theater Group to the stage to help them sing โI Want To Know What Love Isโ and to help raise funds forย VH1โs Save The Music campaign. The evening ended with the band jamming to โJuke Box Heroโ as the encore.
Local rockers One Louder warmed up the crowd playing their mix of popular 80โs tunes to get everyone ready for the big show, and 17-year-old Patuxent High School Senior, Liz Chambers sang the National Anthem and did a wonderful job.ย
The fire department has a challenge ahead turning the stage over to Reba McEntire this Thursday Night August 19.
Tickets are still on sale on their website, www.slvfd.com
