LEONARDTOWN, Md. โ€“ The Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center is hosting two major events on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the school site across from the St. Maryโ€™s County Fairgrounds in Leonardtown.ย  The first event is the Scrapbooking Crop, which takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the schoolโ€™s Dorhman Room.ย  This event benefits the schoolโ€™s SkillsUSA chapter but is being put on by the Ridge Lionโ€™s Club. The cost for the event is $45 if you pay on or before March 18.ย  If you pay on or after March 19, the cost is $50.ย  The event includes breakfast snacks, lunch, dinner, a raffle, ยฝ table space, vendors and table buddies.ย  Please bring gently used scrapbook items, paper and stamps for the brown bag portion.ย  Non-perishable food items will also be collected for local food pantries.ย  For more information, go to www.facebook.com/RidgeLionsClub.


In addition to the Scrapbooking Crop, the Forrest Centerโ€™s Annual Craft/Vendor Fair is taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the schoolโ€™s atrium entrance area and front hallways.ย  Local and regional crafters and vendors will be selling a wide variety of items.ย  The public is invited to come out to enjoy a day of shopping.ย  The deadline for crafters and vendors to reserve tables is March 22.ย  To reserve a table or for more information, contact Bonnie Skinner at 301-475-0242, x28201 or at bjskinner@smcps.org.

Proceeds from the Craft Fair table rentals and silent auction will benefit the Forrest Centerโ€™s SkillsUSA chapter, which is among the most successful in the state.ย  As a result of that success, the chapter must annually fundraise over $25,000 to cover the cost of leadership training, chapter activities and regional, state & national competitions.ย  For more information about SkillsUSA, go to: www.skillsusa.org.
