Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. join us as we gather as a region to stop and think about what it is to be a law enforcement professional.ย We will honor the service and sacrifice for the men and women who serve in: Maryland Natural Resources, Maryland State Fire Marshall, St. Maryโs, Calvert, and Charles Sheriffโs Office, Detention Centers, Maryland State Police and also Trooper #7 Aviation Wing in our region.
Often times we choose to remember our negative encounter with law enforcement.ย But an individual law enforcement officer touches hundreds of lives both young and old in many different ways. There many good deeds that often times go un-noticed and unreported. Officerโs often witness our community members at their lowest point!ย Their actions make a difference in the outcome.ย
Join us for our fourth year as we unite as a region to honor the men and women of 12 agencies who have taken an oath to serve and protect our community. The individuals behind the Law Enforcement Shield serve the community in so many different roles with their dedication and sacrifices. We would like to take time out to bless them and their families.ย The reason we do this is show appreciation for the people who are out there working everyday putting their lives on the line for the community. We believe in the men and women of law enforcement and the work they do. We also realize that families are impacted because as officers deal with the difficulties of their profession, they go home at the end of their shift and their families also deal with some of difficulties of their profession.ย So the community may come into the homes of the officers unintentionally. In a perfect world those difficulties never come into the home. Thatโs why this program is important.ย To let them know we are aware of the cost of the job and we understand, we want you to know we appreciate what you do to make it us safe in our community. We appreciate your dedication of service. With Society changing we know that means the job is becoming more challenging.ย We want to offer an extra shield of protection for them.
We will also acknowledge Marylandโs fallen officers since our blessing started in 2009. There will be a brief look inside of law enforcement through pictures of our law enforcement at work. Charles County Sheriffโs Office and St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Honor Guard. There will be readings, music and a dessert reception following.
The event will be located at Encounter Christian Center at 30080 Henry Lane, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 (behind the Burger King) GPS 29948 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall
