As part of the 25th Anniversary of the American Academy of Dermatology’s National Skin Cancer Screening Program, held each May in conjunction with Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Mid-Atlantic Skin will hold free skin cancer screenings open to the public by appointment.
Board-certified dermatologist, George K. Verghese, MD, and his staff are donating their time to help educate the public about skin cancer and conduct the screenings. The screenings will take place Wednesday, May 5; Friday, May 14; and Wednesday, May 26, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day at 173 St. Patricks Drive, Suite 201, in Waldorf.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with more than 1 million cases diagnosed in this country each year; accounting for more than 10,000 annual deaths. While being the most common form of cancer, it is also the most preventable and curable if detected early.
Screening appointments may be scheduled by calling (301) 396-3401. Additional information is also available by visiting http://www.midatlanticskin.com.
