A benefit luncheon has been planned for mid-December with the aim of easing the hardship a young Calvert County couple is dealing with following the passing of their infant son. The child, Landon Carroll Sneade, was 3-and- a-half months-old when he became a victim of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The child lingered briefly before succumbing to SIDS Nov. 21 at Childrenโ€™s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.

ย

According to Amanda L. Coleman, a client service specialist with SunTrust Bank, Landonโ€™s parentsโ€”Kristen and Jason Sneade โ€”did not have life insurance for their son, who was born Aug. 1 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Therefore, funds are needed to aid the familyโ€™s burden of paying medical bills and funeral expenses.

ย

The fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department (Company 5) on West Ward Road in Dunkirk. In addition to lunch, the event includes a silent auction, door prizes, raffles and a live deejay. Cost is $20 per person. The fundraiser has been billed as โ€œa benefit luncheon for Landonโ€™s Legacy. Even though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit is ever strongly present.โ€

ย

Additionally, Coleman stated the event organizers are looking for donations of gift baskets, services and other items for the raffles and silent auction. Anyone wishing to make a donation should send it to: 597 Solomons Island Road, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. Checks should be made payable to Landon Sneade.

ย

Coleman indicated a second fundraising event for Landonโ€™s Legacy may be in the works.
