HOLLYWOOD, Md. –ย A local volunteer firefighter was laid to rest by friends, family, and
colleagues today, May 11, 2018.ย
Russel Tarleton, 55, who served as a Life Member of theย Bay District Volunteer Fire Department passed awayย ย peacefully at his home Monday, May 7 surrounded by family and friends. Tarleton joined the organization in 1980 and actively volunteered for over 25 years. He served as Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, and Assistant Chief during his service.
Tarleton is survived by his wife April Mikeal Tarleton of California, son Travis Russell Tarleton of Mechanicsville, step-daughter Janice Rakes of California, sister Karen Tarleton Garner (John) of Drayden, and brothers Brian Joseph Tarleton (Marie) of St. Mary’s City, Dale Gregory Tarleton (Patricia) of California, and Keith Anthony Tarleton (Keri) of Hollywood.
Fellow firefighters honored Tarleton with a procession beginning at the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department (Co. 3), Lexington Park and ending at St. John’s Church, Hollywood.ย
