Dunkirk, MD – An early morning garage fire on Labor Day remains under investigation, state officials reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, the blaze occurred at a residence on Southern Maryland Boulevard in Dunkirk.
โThe homeowners woke up and discovered a fire inside the garage and called 911,โ stated Dfm. Don Brenneman. โThe garage was destroyed as a result of the fire. There were no reported injuries as a result.โ
Forty-two firefighters from Dunkirk, Huntingtown and North Beach were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze, which was initially reported at approximately 2:39 a.m.
The owner of the free-standing, 25-foot-by-25-foot structure is identified as Thomas Paprocki. Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $69,000.
