ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following statement on U.S. House passage of the Build Back Better Act:

โ€œFor the past seven years, Maryland has had the greatest economic turnaround in America because weโ€™ve cut taxes, restored fiscal responsibility, reduced the cost of living for working families, and made smart investments in our infrastructure.

โ€œThe Build Back Better Act is the exact opposite approachโ€”itโ€™s nothing but a reckless grab bag of massive tax hikes, Democratic Party wish list items, and handouts to special interests. Itโ€™s another example of Washington catering to the extremes at the expense of the overwhelming majority of the American people.

โ€œDuring normal times, this legislation would be a bad idea. During a time when our nationโ€™s economic recovery is stalling and inflation is already skyrocketing, this bill is a complete disaster for struggling families and small businesses in Maryland and across the country.

โ€œI urge the Senate to reject this bill and instead start working with us on fixing the supply chain crisis, reducing inflation, and getting our economy moving.โ€
