ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following statement on U.S. House passage of the Build Back Better Act:
โFor the past seven years, Maryland has had the greatest economic turnaround in America because weโve cut taxes, restored fiscal responsibility, reduced the cost of living for working families, and made smart investments in our infrastructure.
โThe Build Back Better Act is the exact opposite approachโitโs nothing but a reckless grab bag of massive tax hikes, Democratic Party wish list items, and handouts to special interests. Itโs another example of Washington catering to the extremes at the expense of the overwhelming majority of the American people.
โDuring normal times, this legislation would be a bad idea. During a time when our nationโs economic recovery is stalling and inflation is already skyrocketing, this bill is a complete disaster for struggling families and small businesses in Maryland and across the country.
โI urge the Senate to reject this bill and instead start working with us on fixing the supply chain crisis, reducing inflation, and getting our economy moving.โ
