The St. Mary’s Board of County Commissioners stopped by the State Highway Administrations field office in Lexington Park and got an update on the MD 246 Great Mills Road Streetscape Project. SHA District 5 Community Liaison Bob Rager told The BAYNET.com, “We’re on target right now, working days and nights.”ย

Commissioner Daniel H. Raley acknowledged Community Development Corporation President/CEO Robin Finnacom for her dedication to enhancing the Lexington Park community. He said, “Robin’s been pushing for this a long time.ย When it’s all done, it will be really nice.”
ย
Finnacom said the $5.6 million project, “is really coming together quite nicely.” She and the project engineers informed the commissioners that the Streetscape Project plan includes the entrance to the former Rose’s II, which the county hopes to settle on in the near future. Those involved agreed the timing of the multiple area projects has been beneficial.
ย
Rager said, “As with any streetscape, there can be unforeseen issuesย that arise once we get under the roadway,” suggesting that unmarked and old utilities may pose potential problems.ย “Having good community involvement from the outset of this projectย canย help us resolveย anyย such issues quickly,” and he stated Finnacom had been a tremendous help facilitating communication between SHA and business owners along MD 246.
