Greenview Knolls Elementary School on Chancellors Run Road, California, was evacuated this afternoon for a short time for a gas leak in the building, which turned out to be a false alarm.
Bay District Volunteer Firefighters responded shortly after 1:15 p.m.
Within 15 minutes officials learned that METCOM was conducting testing in sewer lines in the area, which caused smoke to fill a girl’s bathroom at the school.
At approximately 1:30 the building was ventilated, firefighters were clearing the scene and students were filing back into the building.
