ย The Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office, in an effort to curtail the sale of alcohol to minors, conducts undercover โ€œchecksโ€ of various establishments throughout the county to determine if they are in compliance with obtaining the proper ID from persons buying alcohol.

ย These checks are accomplished by sending underage decoys into the businesses to attempt to buy alcohol.

ย The following establishments were visited on Jan. 15 to determine if they conducted the proper ID requirements.

ย The businesses which failed the operation, and sold alcohol to the underage decoy were:

Costal Car Care, Prince Frederick;
Fastop, Lusby;
The Countyโ€™s Filling Station, Lusby;
Thirsty Badger, Prince Frederick, and;
Windsorโ€™s EZ Stop, Prince Frederick.

ย The businesses which passed the operation on Jan. 15 were:

Buehlerโ€™s Market, St. Leonard;
CJโ€™s, Lusby;
Fastop, Solomons;
Ken Mar Liquors, Prince Frederick, and;
Southern Liquors, Lusby.

ย Establishments not in compliance are reported to the Liquor Board, which holds a hearing the fourth Thursday of each month to determine the consequence to the business.
