(Waldorf, MD., Jul. 18, 2017) – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (6-5) defeated the York Revolution (6-6) 4-2, with Zach Coneโ€™s two-run homer leading the way.ย

The Blue Crabs got on the board first, putting up three runs in the third. Brian Bistagne led-off the inning with a single, before Zach Cone got ahold of a Logan Williamson (3-6) fastball, connecting for a two-run homerun to open the scoring. Later in the inning, Zach Wilson singled, eventually coming around to score on a two-out single from L.J. Hoes. The RBI put the Blue Crabs ahead 3-0 early in the game, allowing Gaby Hernandez (7-1) to cruise on the mound.

Hernandez allowed just three hits to the Revs through the first four innings, before finding trouble in the fifth. After picking up two quick outs, Hernandez sacrificed a doubled down the line to Alonzo Harris. Back-to-back wild pitches allowed Harris to come around to score, cutting the lead to 3-1.

After a quiet sixth inning, the Blue Crabs threatened again in the bottom of the seventh. Edwin Garcia singled, moving up to second on a two-out walk. Cory Vaughn followed with a single, scoring Garcia from second to add another insurance run to the lead.

Southern Maryland then turned their 4-1 lead over to Cody Eppley, looking to recover from his first blown save of the season last night. Eppley (S,24) picked up two easy outs, before allowing a two-out single to Jared Mitchell to keep the game alive. Luis Cruz was next, tripling to right-center field, scoring Mitchell and bringing the tying run to the plate. After battling to a full count, Carlos Triunfel finally hit a chopper to first, which was bare-handed by Michael Snyder and flipped to Eppley, ending the game with a 4-2 Blue Crabs win.

The Blue Crabs return to action Wednesday, July 19th, for the deciding game of the three-game series against the Revolution. Southern Maryland will send LHP Pat McCoy (2-4, 4.21) to the mound, looking to pick up a series win. He will matchup with Yorkโ€™s RHP Jay Gause (3-1, 2.30), making just his fifth start of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 P.M. on Wednesday at Regency Furniture Stadium.
