Student actors in Charles Countyโ€™s six public high schools are preparing for spring plays, which begin next month. The following is a list of school plays, ticket and contact information for each high school.

Henry E. Lackey High School will present Disneyโ€™s โ€œAida,โ€ on April 12-13 at 7 p.m., and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14. Aida is the story of two African princesses and an Egyptian military captain. Aida, the princess of Nubia, is captured by a group of Egyptians led by Captain Radames. She is enslaved and given as a gift to Radamesโ€™ fiancรฉe, the Egyptian princess Amneris. Radames’ father plots to kill the Pharaoh to place his son into power by marrying Amneris, but Aida and Radames fall in love. Actors at North Point High School are presenting โ€œA Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,โ€ on April 18-20, at 7 p.m. A matinee performance is also scheduled for April 20 at 1 p.m. The play sets stage in ancient Rome and follows the life of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to earn his freedom by helping the son of his master win the love of Philia, a girl who lives next door.Tickets are $8 for general admission, and $5 for students and senior citizens. The drama department at Maurice J. McDonough High School is presenting Robert and Hammersteinโ€™s โ€œCinderella.โ€ The story follows the life of Cinderella, a young woman forced into a life of servitude by her stepmother and stepsisters. Cinderella dreams of a better life and with the help of her fairy godmother, is introduced to a prince and the two fall in love. Show times are April 18-20, at 7 p.m., and April 20-21 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens, and $7 for thespians who provide their school identification card. Thomas Stone High School will present โ€œYouโ€™re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,โ€ on April 18-20, at 7:30 p.m. The show is a comedy and is based on Cartoonist Charles Schulzโ€™s famous comic strip โ€œPeanutsโ€ and several main characters such as Charlie Brown, his dog, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and Sally. The Westlake High School Theatre Company is presenting โ€œCurtainsโ€ on April 25-27, at 7 p.m. The show is a murder mystery musical comedy set in Boston in the 1950s and follows Lt. Frank Cioffi, who is called to investigate the murder of an actress during the opening night curtain call of a Broadway-bound musical.
