ย ย ย ย  Every Wednesday night at the Leonardtown Drill Hall a group of hockey fans come out and are not talking about the Washington Capitols, or tryouts for the new Southern Maryland Sabres.ย  The group of guys and gals that show up each week are talking about a local league of roller hockey that has been competing for many years.ย  The league goes back to 1992, when the Office Station in Lexington Park, then known as the Skate Station, was home to these players.ย  Now a days when you enter the Leonardtown Drill Hall, you see right away that these guys come out to play.ย  These teams donโ€™t just show up with rollerblades, a ball and some cheap goal, the players hit the floor with pads, helmets, sticks, and goalies in full battle gear.ย  While the players are all friends, that may make them even more competitive in the rink each week.ย  The league, which is always looking for additional players, leads the evening off at 7pm with the first of two games each week.ย  The teams compete in a twelve-week season and run four seasons a year.ย  So for you hockey fans that just canโ€™t get enough or canโ€™t stand the off-season, come check these teams out.ย  They meet each Wednesday night at 7pm at the Leonardtown Drill Hall, located right next to the Maryland State Police barracks in Leonardtown.
