On Friday night Jan 22, the Great Mills Hornets boys basketball team went into the Panthers Den at Patuxent and got into a tough battle with an inspired first half performance by Patuxent before getting the win 63-41.
Patuxent came out strong on defense, frustrating the normally fast breaking Hornets and taking leads of 14-6 into the second quarter and 27-17 at the half. Coach Peck fired up his boys during the intermission and Great Mills started the second half on a 14-4 run Led by Kammeron Barker (14 points) and Mo Queen (14 points). Barker was named the Papa John’s player of the game. The Panthers were led by Ken Massey’s hard work in the paint with 12 points and 5 blocked shots.
The game was broadcast live on Baynet Radio, where this week’s schedule includes games on Tuesday Jan 26 (McNamara at Ryken) and Wednesday Jan 27 (LaPlata at Leonardtown). Tipoff for both games is scheduled for 7 p.m.
