Waldorf, MD— On Feb.16, Charles County Sheriff’s Officer R.Smith responded to the 2300 block of Audrey Manor Court in Waldorf for the report of squatters occupying a bank-owned residence.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the property manager who advised that several individuals were inside the residence illegally.

Officers then made contact with James Maurice Henry Jr., 26 of Springdale, who was uncooperative and refused to provide documentation permitting him access to the residence. According to charging documents, “He (victim) told me (Smith) he responded to the residence on Feb.16, 2016 and noticed the lock boxes that were previously in the residence were missing.”

The victim also advised that the prior tenants were evicted, and the current locks on the residence were different from the ones he installed. The victim also advised the garage door appeared to be forced open. “The victim told me (Smith) he then made contact with several unknown individualsย who were inside the residence,” according to charging documents.ย 

During the investigation, Henry became hostile and disorderly and was subsequently arrested and charged with fourth-degree burglary and trespassing.

At this time, Henry does not have a scheduled court date. Henry faces a maximum jail sentence of three years and three months and or a maximum fine of $500.
