On Thursday, Jan. 28 at approximately 6:25 p.m., volunteer firefighters from Bay District, Hollywood, Lexington Park and Seventh District responded to 23270 Three Notch Rd. in California for a working house fire.

When units arrived on the scene, heavy smoke could be seen coming from the home. The kitchen of the home was fully involved and quickly spreading to other partsย of the home. Firefighters laid lines from Three Notch Road andย had the bulk of theย fire knockedย downย by 6:32 p.m. and began venting the home.

All secondary hot spots were handled in short order. The Southern Maryland Chapter of the American Red Cross was called to assist two adults who were displaced by the fire along with the family dog.

SMECO and a Maryland State Fire Marshall were also called to the scene.

The home suffered extensive heat and smoke damage throughout the structure. No injuries were reported.

The cause of theย fireย remains underย investigation.
