Huntingtown, MD— On Jan. 19 at 4:12 p.m., volunteer fire departments responded to Hunting Creek Road in Huntingtown for a two-story single family home with reports of smoke showing.ย 

Deputy Fire Marshal Melissa Decker concluded that the preliminary cause of the fire was accidental and that the fire started at the base of the basement steps from renovation work occurring within the home.ย 

Volunteer fire departments that responded to this house fire included Huntingtown, Dunkirk, North Beach, St.Leonard Prince Frederick. It took 20 firefighters one minute to control the fire.ย 

According to Decker, “The small fire damage was contained to the bottom of the staircase. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.” ย ย 


Huntingtown, MD – Jan. 19th, 4:20 p.m. – A house fire has been reported in the 2900 block of Hunting Creek Road. Units are responding.

Please avoid the area until further notice. Authorities report the structure is a one-story, single-family home. Crews at the scene confirm that smoke is showing.

The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department is reporting the fire is in the home’s basement.
