Huntingtown, MD – A house fire in Calvert County that was overshadowed by a traffic incident involving responders Saturday, March 18 has been deemed accidental, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze that occurred at a one-story, wood-framed house on Robinson Road in Huntingtown was reported shortly before 8 a.m.
“The fire was determined to be accidental as a result of a malfunction in the chimney,” the investigating deputy fire marshal reported. “The fire extended into the attic of the house, causing moderate damage. The occupant was displaced and is being assisted by family.”
No one was injured as a result of the fire. Damage to the structure is estimated at $125,000. Thirty-five firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought it under control in 10 minutes.
