Huntingtown, MD – A house fire in Calvert County that was overshadowed by a traffic incident involving responders Saturday, March 18 has been deemed accidental, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the blaze that occurred at a one-story, wood-framed house on Robinson Road in Huntingtown was reported shortly before 8 a.m.

โ€œThe fire was determined to be accidental as a result of a malfunction in the chimney,โ€ the investigating deputy fire marshal reported. โ€œThe fire extended into the attic of the house, causing moderate damage. The occupant was displaced and is being assisted by family.โ€

No one was injured as a result of the fire. Damage to the structure is estimated at $125,000. Thirty-five firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought it under control in 10 minutes.
