Household Displaced By Coltons Point Fire; "They Are Basically Starting Over!"

COLTONS POINT, Md. — A caring sister, Danielle Skidmore, has created a GoFundMe page for her brother and his family, who lost their home to a fire on May 15.

Some may recall that at approximately 4:43 a.m. that day, first responders were alerted to a single-story house fire in Coltons Point that caused significant damage. Skidmore’s brother, his girlfriend, and their 9-month-old daughter made it out of the fire safely, but all of their belongings were destroyed.

The fundraiser has a goal of $5,000 and is currently over a quarter of the way there. The family is also seeking home essentials and certain baby products as they are getting resituated.

“They are basically starting over,” Skidmore wrote. “I’m creating this page hoping we can help them as much as possible.”

She hopes that the page spreads to more people so that her brother’s family can resume life without the burden the fire has caused.

Skidmore added, “We thank everyone that donated here, via cashapps, or donated clothes and essentials! A lot of people have reached out and as of now, I think we are set on baby clothes. We are also waiting to establish a new permanent living space before accepting furniture.”
