The Charles County Commissioners will hold a household hazardous waste collection day Saturday, July 5. The Charles County Sanitary Landfill on Billingsley Road East between Piney Church Road and state Route 5 in Waldorf will accept the following items between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. : pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer, gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze, paint, cleaning supplies, pool chemicals, batteries, expired prescription drugs, and other poisons that are around your house.
Items should be kept in their original containers whenever possible. Pack the items in cardboard boxes to ease unloading.
Future household hazardous waste collection dates at the County Landfill will be on the first Saturday of each month through December.
