Congressman Steny Hoyer (D: MD-5th) visited a Christmas in April project in Waldorf where interior and exterior work was being done on a home for Bay Community Support Services, Inc.ย It was part of a regional effort to repair homes and centers for low-income residents and seniors.
ย
โRebuilding Together with Christmas in April is one of the most outstanding non-profit organizations in the country,โ Hoyer said. โIt is truly a testament to the generous spirit of our communities that so many Fifth District residents were willing to give up a Saturday to help a neighbor in need, and to see what a difference is made โ in just one day โ in the lives of those whose homes were repaired.โ
ย
35 volunteers showed up to the home being repaired for Bay Community Support Services in the Pinefield area.ย Volunteers from the Maurice J. McDonough Knight of Columbus, Old Line Bank and St. Josephโs Church youth group all participated in the effort.
ย
โEveryoneโs doing a great job,โ Richard Muscato, who was leading the project effort, said.ย โWe had some interior painting that needed to be done.ย We put on a storm door, fixed some leaks in the roof as well as replacing a bathroom faucet and yard work.ย Weโre also doing quite a bit of tree trimming and yard cleanup.ย Hopefully the residents will appreciate this when they come back to the house.โ
