The Human Resources Association of Southern Maryland (HRASM) will meet on October 19 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Smartronix, Inc., 44150 Smartronix Way, Hollywood, MD 20636. Attorney Jay Fries will cover a variety of Department of Labor (DOL) topics including the test for a job to qualify as exempt from overtime under the wage and hour law, the new DOL regulations governing the salary that must be paid to exempt employees, and the DOL’s definition of an “independent contractor” and the potential liability that results from misclassification.
