Throughout the month of September, the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack has partnered with the Southern Maryland Food Bank in Hughesville to collect food and non-food items for donation for Southern Maryland residents who suffer from the uncertainty of sufficient amounts of nutritious foods. Many Southern Maryland residents, including middle class families, the elderly, and the working poor go hungry every day as they struggle to make ends meet.ย The Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack urges the citizens of our communities to come together during this time to help fellow local families in Southern Maryland receive nutritious food to feed their families.
Non-perishable food items that are most needed include canned meat (tuna, chicken, etc), peanut butter, pasta, fruits (canned or dried), canned soup, canned vegetables, evaporated and powdered milk, infant formula, breakfast cereal and oatmeal, rice, nuts and seeds, and beans (canned or dried)
All food donations can be made at the Maryland State Police โ Leonardtown Barrack at 23200 Leonard Hall Drive, Leonardtown, MDย 20650.ย Any questions can be directed to the Leonardtown Barrack duty officer at (301)475-8955 or by email at msp.leonardtown@maryland.gov.ย Please note all donations must be received prior to September 25, 2015 so they can be transported to the Southern Maryland Food Bank.
