The Charles County Commissioners voted to call an escrow account on the Falcon Ridge development and call a bond on the Hunters Brooke development on Tuesday morning.ย  This is the latest development in a battle that has taken place for months between the commissioners and developers. Work in both developments was supposed to be complete by October 28, 2011.

ย

In Hunters Brooke, a 25 page list of corrections was presented by County Attorney Barbara Holtz.ย  Most of the concrete work has not been completed, and 50% of what has been completed has not been done properly.ย  Earlier this year, Commissioners spoke about the Hunters Brooke development and the need for the work to get done.

ย

โ€œWe sat in here months ago fearing residents would go through another winter without winter,โ€ Commissioner President Candice Quinn Kelly (D) said.ย  โ€œWe are now faced with our fears.ย  The developer has demonstrated that they are not capable or interested in moving the process forwardโ€ฆ

ย

โ€œWe have a responsibility to look out for the citizens.ย  They bought homes with expectations they would have roads and sidewalks.โ€

ย

Commissioner Vice President Reuben Collins (D) asked if the board could wait until October 28th to act.ย  Holtz suggested against it, saying action now might allow the work to get done before the cold months of winter begin.

ย

โ€œIs there any way to do an emergency bid to get the work done?,โ€ Commissioner Bobby Rucci (D: 4th) asked.ย  โ€œThey’ve been sitting on this forever.ย  Just get it done.โ€

ย

Holtz said they would look in to that option.

ย

The Falcon Ridge escrow account and the Hunters Brooke bond were both called, which now gives the County more control in getting the work done.
