Congratulations to the Huntingtown Hurricanes for their undefeated run to the Maryland Stateย 3-Aย Finals. The Hurricanes season started Sept. 4 with a convincing 36-0 win against La Plata. After decisive victories againstย  Northern and Chopticon, they faced their toughest game of the regular season against Westlake, but managed a sloppy 14-13 win.

Huntingtown rolled through the remainder of the regular season behind a stout defense and All SMAC running back Greg Goodwin. Going into the state championship game, Goodwin has rushed for 2,564 yards and 35 touchdowns.

The Hurricanes defense is led by Linebacker Andrew Bose with 163 Tackles, 5 sacks and 3 interceptions. The first round of the playoffs brought a 23-0 win against Lackey and a big 46-0 whipping of last years 3-A State Champ, Westlake.

Last week, the Hurricanes had a tough battle, knocking off last years 2-A state champion River Hill 10-7 as their defense made a big stop with River Hill ending the game inside the 5 yard line as the clock ran out.

Coach Jerry Franks will have to come up with new ways to get his star running back the ball as they will face a tough defense in Linganore (13-0) from Frederick, MD. The Lancers have scored 541 points while allowing only 126 and dominating their opponents all year long.

Linganore brings Penn State Recruit Zach Zwiniac with 1,908 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns and Kevin Myers and his 1,434 yards rushing and 21 TDโ€™s and a very balanced offensive attack.

A snow and wintry mix is expected for the game tomorrow night at M & T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Game time is at 7 p.m.
