SOLOMONS, Md. – The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a house fire that caused an estimated $70,000 worth of damage to a detached in-law suite, Monday, April 23.

Around 8:30 a.m., crews responded to the 14300 block of Sedwick Avenue, Solomons for the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, 45 firefighters led by the Solomons VFD worked quickly and had the scene under control in 15 minutes.ย 

Investigation revealed that the fire was caused by an accidental electrical event in the in-law suite’s bedroom. The occupant was at work at the time of the fire, neighbors saw smoke coming from the home and called 911. No one was injured during the fire.ย
