
INDIAN HEAD, Maryland — A Saturday night apartment fire displaced 11 people living in an Indian Head apartment complex.
The fire broke out around 10 pm on Saturday at an 8-unit apartment complex on Indian Head Highway . Fifty firefighters from the Indian Head VFD responded to the scene. It took 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the fire started in the living room of one of the ground floor apartments.ย
All units in the complex sustained some level of fire, smoke, or water damage. The Red Cross assisted the displaced residents. Estimated loss to the structure and property is $250,000.
The unit where the fire started had smoke detectors installed but the Fire Marshall said it’s not known if they operated properly. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.ย
