The Charles County Planning Commission will hold a public meeting on the Indian Head Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) during their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. in the County Commissionersโ Meeting Room of the Charles County Government Building (200 Baltimore Street, La Plata). Citizens wishing to make oral or written comments are encouraged to attend the meeting.
The JLUS is a cooperative planning process between Charles County, Town of Indian Head, and the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head to identify land use compatibility issues affecting the community and NSF Indian Head. The study is developed in collaboration with local stakeholders to identify strategies to guide compatible land use decisions.
The study is a key tool to help ensure the continued viability of the mission of the base, which is one of the countyโs most important economic assets, and at the same time protect the surrounding community. The draft study report contains recommended policies and strategies to ensure that community development is compatible with NSF Indian Head.
The draft study document will be available on Planning Commission BoardDocs at www.boarddocs.com/md/ccpc/Board.nsf/Public and on the Indian Head JLUS website at www.indianheadjlus.com/ aapproximately a week before the meeting.
