
Dakota K. Gwilliamย
Great Mills, MD— On May 6, Maryland State Police Trooper Christina Capranica responded to Brawny Street in Great Mills for the report of a domestic assault.ย
When Capranica arrived on the scene, contact was made with the victim who advised he was assaulted by the suspect, who was identified as Dakota K. Gwilliam, 21, of Great Mills.ย
The victim advised that Gwilliam started drinking when he got home. The victim advised that when Gwilliam’s girlfriend came home at 9:30 p.m., Gwilliam was intoxicated.
The victimย stated that “Gwilliam’s girlfriend sat down at the kitchen table to eat a bowl of soup when Gwilliam walked in and started cursing at her for no reason,” according to charging documents.ย
The victim also advised that Gwilliam continuedย to get mad and started calling her names, spit in her face, and threw the bowl of soup across the table. Gwilliam then picked her up and tried to pull her upstairs.
The victim stated in charging documents that “Gwilliam stated he was going to kill us.”ย
Gwilliam got hostile and grabbed the victim around his neck with both hands and tried to choke him.
The victim was able to get away and [he and the suspect’s girlfriend] locked themselvesย in his bedroom. Capranica did observe minor red scratchesย and abrasions on the victim. Gwilliam was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with second-degree assault.ย
Gwilliamย has a scheduled hearing July 5 in District Court. Gwilliam faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and or a maximum fine of $2,500.
