A fire in front of a home in Mechanicsville has been deemed arson by investigators. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire to the exterior of a home on Weesies Way was incendiary in nature. Damage was estimated at $2,000.

The owner of the home, Deborah Morgan, was reportedly inside at the time of the incident at 12:18 p.m. on Tuesday. According to Deputy State Fire Marshal Don Brenneman, “A neighbor alerted the owner of the fire and the fire department responded.” A dozen firefighters from the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department quickly extinguished it.

No one was injured in the fire and the owner was not displaced.
