At 5:58 pm, on Friday, January 5, Tpr. Adams was patrolling Rt. 5 north of Leonardtown. Tpr. Adams observed the driver of a 1995 Chevrolet Sierra pickup truck was not wearing his seatbelt.
A routine traffic stop was initiated for the seatbelt violation and contact was made with the driver, Jonathan Craig Rainey, 24, of Leonardtown. A check through MVA revealed Mr. Rainey’s driving privilege was both suspended and revoked in Maryland.
Mr. Rainey was arrested for driving while suspended and revoked. A search incident to arrest of Mr. Rainey’s vehicle revealed he was in possession of marijuana and a 10mg tablet of methadone.
Mr. Rainey was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
