Hurricane Sandy impacted travel of all styles, including luxury cruises. On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Calvert County residents living along the Chesapeake Bay emerged from their homes and beheld the sight of a large cruise ship. Anecdotal reports indicate the vessel was due to embark on a cruise out of Baltimore Harbor. However, on Sunday the U.S. Coast Guard shut down Chesapeake Bay traffic for an indefinite period.
Luxury cruise liners up and down the Atlantic Coast had to cancel planned excursions as a result of the storms.
