Solomons, MD – The island is ready for its annual visitors starting at noon Friday, April 15. The much anticipated occasion is the 36th grand opening of the Tiki Bar in Solomons.

Thousands flock to the storied island to mingle, meet up with old friends and acquaint themselves with strangers. Potent cocktails, colorful beads, beautifully-dressed women, loud, ear-piercing musicโ€”in other words, all the good things in lifeโ€”are all part of the picture on opening day.

Tiki Bar owner Terry Clarke told The BayNet that he and the Tiki Bar staff are anticipating approximately 30,000 people visiting the island Friday through Sunday.
The event will certainly not take any of Solomonsโ€™ full-time residents by surprise. โ€œWe walked around town and gave out an event package to everyone,โ€ said Clarke. โ€œNot one negative comment was heard. They are all looking forward to coming down and joining us.โ€

As of Wednesday afternoon, April 13 the weather forecast for the three-day weekend looked great, with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s predicted.
Clarke said the bar scene will have a โ€œnew lookโ€ with a โ€œfew secretsโ€ to be revealed Friday. One thing that wonโ€™t be kept a secret is the addition of the new palm trees, which were planted this past Sunday.

Friday’s schedule includes live bands, a laser show and the arrival of King Neptune around 4 p.m.

The Tiki Barโ€™s opening weekend has traditionally benefited the entire region, as area hotels are booked, restaurants become crowded and traffic proves to be a challenge.

If you are going to the Tiki Bar opening, be sure to consider the Designated Driver program that the bar, vendors and law enforcement are supervising. Here is a link to all the information /articles/0416/designated-driver-program-will-be-part-of-bar-opening.html
