Congregation Sha’are Shalom, Charles County’s reform Jewish congregation, took part in the annual Charles County “Walk to End Homelessness” sponsored by the Charles County Homeless and Emergency Shelter Committee on Saturday, Nov 22.
Sha’are Shalom raised $320 and sponsored 16 walkers on a brisk morning.
Kicking off at La Plata Town Hall at 9 a.m., the adults and children made their way along the three mile course with members from many other organizations. The walk’s proceeds benefitted the Safe Nights program, a temporary homeless shelter for the coldest months, November through March.
