
Washington, DC – Former astronaut and U.S. Senator John Glenn has died, CBS News reports. He was 95 years old. Hank Wilson with Ohio State Universityโs John Glenn College of Public Affairs said Wednesday, Dec. 7 that Glenn was at the James Cancer Hospital. Glenn died Thursday, Dec. 8.
Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth in 1962. He served as a U.S. senator from Ohio from 1974 to 1999. He was the last surviving member of the Mercury Astronauts.
