An unidentified male called the Emergency Communications Center 9-1-1 on November 5th at 9:30 a.m. reporting a bomb was in Great Mills. Although, the caller did not specifically indicate Great Mills High School, school officials and law enforcement immediately activated the appropriate protocols and a modified lockdown of Great Mills High School was implemented.

Numerous Sheriff’s Office deputies, assisted by the Department of the Navy K9 units, conducted a search of Great Mills High School. After a complete search was conducted, the school resumed normal activity at approximately 10:40 AM. No devices were found.ย ย 

Detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to Spring Ridge Middle School where the call to 9 1 1 was believed to have originated. The investigation revealed an 8th grade, male student, age 13, reported the false threat. The juvenile was placed under arrest and charged by Corporal Malloy.
