On May 03, Troopers from the Maryland State Police-Prince Frederick Barrack and Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call for a fight at the McDonald’s Express located at 110 Solomons Island Road South, Prince Frederick, Calvert County Maryland.
Upon arrival patrol officers observed a juvenile male from Prince Frederick, who had numerous stab wounds to the chest. The juvenile was conscious and able to advise what had happened.
Witnesses as well as the victim were able to assist patrol officers in identifying the suspect, Steven Kartney Smith, 19 years-old from Prince Frederick as the stabber. Smith was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Officer for an interview.
Smith advised members of the Calvert Investigative Team that the altercation was due to an on-going dispute he had with another juvenile, the victim’s brother. Smith admitted to brandishing the knife and stabbing the victim several times in the chest.
The juvenile was transported by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 2 to Prince George’s Shock Trauma for his injuries. He was listed in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
