Baby Kaylee Lynn Payne, with Mom Stacey, Dad Timmy and Mother Goose, arrived New Year’s Day at Calvert Memorial Hospital.

Prince Frederick, MD ย – Nine hours into the new year Kaylee Lynn Payne of Mechanicsville arrived into the world. โ€œShe was early,โ€ said Kayleeโ€™s mother, Stacey, who gave birth Jan. 1 at Calvert Memorial Hospital (CMH).

Kaylee, who weighed 8 pounds and 1 ounce at birth, is CMHโ€™s first baby of the new year. Mom Stacey had previously given birth to three boys and knew that number four would be a girl. Kaylee was one of the names considered. โ€œWhen I saw her I knew which name I wanted,โ€ said Stacey. โ€œIโ€™ve always liked the name.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m happy, but Iโ€™m glad itโ€™s over with,โ€ said Kayleeโ€™s father, Timmy. With plenty of bed rest and the help of Kayleeโ€™s grandparents, Stacey was well prepared for the new babyโ€™s birth, which wasnโ€™t supposed to happen until Jan. 15.

As to why Stacey chose CMH as her daughterโ€™s birthplace, she explained, โ€œIโ€™ve had all my babies here. My doctor [Dr. Hilary Ginter] is here. They have a good staff.โ€

According to CMH spokeswoman Gail Harkins, the CMH Auxiliary has given Kaylee and her parents two gifts for being the hospitalโ€™s first baby of the yearโ€”a silver spoon with the words โ€œDelivered with Care from Calvert Memorial Hospitalโ€ inscribed; and a stuffed Mother Goose.

Stacey and Kaylee were due to go home Sunday, Jan. 3. As for her three sons who now have a sister, Stacey said, โ€œthey are definitely excited.โ€
