Prince Frederick, MD – For many children it’s that one last fun ride before boarding a yellow bus and heading back to school. For the dedicated volunteers of the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department (Company 2) it’s a popular way to raise funds to provide lifesaving services to the Central Calvert County community.

The annual Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department Carnival opened Tuesday evening, Aug. 11. The event continues Friday and Saturday nights, Aug. 14 and 15.

The carnival will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight both evenings. The carnival is located at the Route 2/4 – Dares Beach Road intersection at the old Calvert Middle School location.

Wristbands are $25 each with many local businesses providing discount coupons. Admission to the carnival grounds is free.

Rides include the popular bumper cars and the traditional merry-go-round. Additionally, there are games of skill. Food, including sweet treats like ice cream and funnel cake, is also for sale.

Members of Company 2 are also on the grounds. The current members would be happy to speak to any potential volunteers. Be sure to thank those Company 2 members for the vital service they provide the community without charge.

Enjoy the carnival and enjoy our photo gallery and videos.
