LEONARDTOWN, Md. – A Leonardtown family has been displaced after a fire destroyed part of their home Friday, July 20.
Just after 9:00 p.m., crews responded to the 20200 block of Beauvue Court, Leonardtown for the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, units discovered a single family home with the garage heavily affected by fire. Fifty-five firefighters led by the Leonardtown VFD battled the blaze and had the scene under control in half an hour. The damage caused by the fire is estimated to be $275,000.
Investigation revealed that the occupants of the home heard noises coming from the area of the garage. They went to investigate and upon entering the mud room were confronted by heavy smoke and flames. The family was displaced and are being assisted by family and friends. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time. There were no injuries reported from the fire.
