The PrestoSports/Pride of Maryland All-Maryland Team was selected Tuesday afternoon by a panel of media members from across the state and Tyson Lesesne (Edgewood, MD) represented St. Maryโs (Md.) College on the second team.
Four of the five members of the 2006-07 PrestoSports/Pride of Maryland First-Team hail from the Old Line State.ย In all,ย eight of the ten student-athletes honored are from Maryland.ย Additionally, eight of the nine Pride of Maryland schools placed at least one student-athlete on either the First or Second Team.
Lesesne capped off his junior campaign with a selection to the 2007 All-Capital Athletic Conference Second Team.ย The Edgewood HS product helped St. Maryโs (16-11, 9-7 CAC) to its first winning season, including four straight wins to close out the regular-season, since the 2000-01 campaign when the Seahawks finished with an 18-8 mark.ย Lesesne also contributed to SMCMโs first appearance in the CAC Semifinals since 2000-01.ย He was picked as the PrestoSports/Pride of Maryland Player of the Week for the week ending February 18 after averaging 21.0 points in three Seahawk wins.
He led the team in scoring with 18.5 points per game as he posted double-digit scoring in 25 of 27 games this season, including back-to-back 30+ point games.ย He also paced the Seahawks in steals with 49, while being second in assists with 79.ย The junior guard ended the season tops in three-point field goal percentage (.460, 64-139) and free throw percentage (.810, 81-100), while being third in rebounding.
The Edgewood, MD native finished fourth in the CAC in three-point field goal percentage, fifth in steals (1.81), sixth in scoring, free throw percentage and field goal percentage (.518), seventh in three-point field goals made (2.37), and 13th in assists with 2.93 per game.
For his career, Lesesne has played in 51 games with 49 starts since joining the squad a year ago.ย But in just two years, he surpassed the 1,000-point plateau with his 22nd point in the Seahawksโ 89-76 victory at Marymount (Va.) University in the 2007 CAC Quarterfinals on February 20.
