Barbara Dean Flaherty, 80, formerly of Silver Hill, MD, passed away December 30, 2014 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s, Callaway, MD. Born May 17, 1934 in Lancaster County, Va. She was the wife of the late Edward T. Flaherty, Past Chief 29 of the Silver Hill VFD. She was the daughter of Peyton and Ester Ingram.
Barbara is survived by her children, Edward T. Flaherty, Jr. of Aquasco, MD, John R. Flaherty (Terri) of Brandywine, MD, Jane M. Farrell (James) of Hollywood, MD and David M. Flaherty (Donna) of Mechanicsville, MD; her grandchildren, Daniel Flaherty, Patrick Flaherty, Kelly Flaherty, Melinda Farrell, Allison Flaherty, David Flaherty and Abigale Flaherty. She was one of 11 children; survived by Ester Mabel McGee, Logan Ingram, Kenny Ingram, Richard Ingram and Robert Ingram (her twin); along with many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a homemaker for many years raising her 4 children, her oldest grandchild and several nieces and nephews before she began working as a receptionist at the Dominican House of Studies, Northwest Washington, DC finally retiring in 2006. She had spent her final years enjoying time with her family.
The family will receive friends for Barbara’s Life Celebration on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 10:00a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 28297 Old Village Rd., Mechanicsville, MD.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd., Clinton, MD.
